[ She wants to be angry. She was angry when she first found out, and she was scared, and even when they'd finally managed to take down the daitengu, it felt like such a hollow victory. They should have prepared better, they should have looked after each other better, she should have fought harder and paid more attention and this and that and so many other things and then maybe people wouldn't die. Even if they come back...

Kido's feet stop in front of the patient room with "Nowell" on the door, and she turns around again to walk the halls for the tenth time. Mostly she wants to be angry to give a reason for the tears that spill down her cheeks no matter how hard or often she tries to scrub them off her face, so that at least she can come into the room and pretend she didn't cry over him again.

It's a long process, and one that takes almost until the sun starts to set and visiting hours would be over she gets the chance to say anything, so she finally stops in front of the door again, knocks and opens the door, hoping Terry is asleep. ]

[ While Kido did the pacing outside his room, she must have noticed that the nurses frequently went in and out of Terry's room with a fresh roll of bandages and gauzes each and every time. When she opens the door, she can see Terry sitting up on the bed. Last time was bandages around his head with a huge gauze over his cheek. This time, it doesn't look like much other than his left arm being connected to an IV and several band-aids over his arms. A blood pack hangs from an overhead hook. Surprisingly, there isn't a pulse monitor, but surely, it's dramatic irony.

There's a cat family huddled in the opposite corner of the room, a mother fiercely protecting her four kittens, occasionally hissing over at Terry. He ignores them though and his direction of sight changes over to the door, expecting the nurses to make another round in changing his bandages, but it's Kido.

...

He's not sure what to say and averts his eyes to the floor. He's usually a do-whatever kind of person so he rarely felt guilt for what he did, but after their recent talk several days ago, he feels a sort of guilt creep into his head, even if he tried his best to avoid this kind of outcome.

However, he still raises his head, closes his eyes, and smiles over at Kido. ]

I missed you.

7/28 (or whenever), action

[ Whether Terry expects visitors it doesn't matter: he's getting one in form of a cat walking on the power lines just behind the window. She seems pretty carefree about it, walking and jumping around—it might not be clear, but she's for the hospital pharmacy, one of these windows has to lead there. There are plenty of windows to check out and she'd really appreciate a hint or some directions. Terry looks like a nice guy, so she's just going to ask him: ]

Hey, do you happen to have any painkillers? Or do you know where they keep the meds?

[overstrain]

[ ... ... ...

Terry has to rub his eyes for a second. He's not believing what he's seeing. A standing cat with clothes on, talking to him, and one that doesn't hate him right now?? What's the deal?? Is he high on too much painkillers right now???

The question is a bit weird to him though. ]

Are you hurt anywhere...? You can come in. Standing on the power lines like that is dangerous.

[ It's been a half an hour after Hibiki got there and asked the nurse if he can see Terry. Apparently, the visiting hours haven't even started yet, so he takes a seat in the waiting room after grabbing a canned drink from the vending machine. Ever since he's learned that someone died during the battle and that this someone was Terry, Hibiki remains a bit restless—even now, he's tapping his foot, trying his best to act cool. Rules are rules and he doesn't want to disturb Terry, but thankfully after fifteen more minutes he's allowed to go inside his room.

Hibiki stares at familiar name on a plaque for a moment before opening the door just slightly. He got some cat food for Terry's cats (maybe they'll hate him a bit less, not that Hibiki knows about what's going on) and snacks for Terry himself. ]

Hey, I hope it's not nap time or something. Can I come in?

[ He pokes his head inside dying (...) to see Terry. ]

[overstrain]

[ Terry's senses are pretty much dulled out while recovering, so he doesn't see Hibiki coming in. ]

Ow! Ow, ow, ow! [ COUGH HACK WHEEZE ] Stop-- [ wheeze ] --that! Let go!

[ He's having trouble with the mom cat right now... She's biting his arm and overall being hostile to Terry, and only Terry. If Hibiki tries to intervene, the cat will immediately relax.

Other than that, the kittens are huddled up in the corner, Terry is hooked up to a blood IV on the other arm, and there is absolutely no pulse machine because what's the point of that for someone with a recovering crushed heart. Anyway, Terry is bedridden, shaking his arm in an attempt to get the cat off his arm. He's having coughing fits in the meantime. ]

[ ...Come to think of it, it's pretty sad that if Kido needs to find Terry, the first place she looks is the hospital, because she doesn't know where in the woods he sleeps and just sort of assumes he's a hobo most days.

But she doesn't even make it all the way to the front doors before something pointy hits her on the side of the head and she's so prepared to punch a crow out of the sky despite the cloth bag she's carrying making her reaction a bit slow, except... it's paper? A paper airplane. With writing on it. Which has to have been folded and written by a person and a person is more punchable than a bird. ]

[ I mean... she's not wrong...

There isn't much wind outside, since everything is just freaking hot in the peak of summer, so there's another paper airplane being flown. If Kido looks up, it looks like it came out of one of the windows from the hospital. The paper airplane doesn't fly in a straight line though, it sways a little, going from this direction to that, and it eventually ends up near Kido's feet if she stuck around to watch where it goes. At first glance, there doesn't seem to be any writing, but if she opens it up, there's... a lot of writing. It's also written in English. The other paper airplane has English things written on it too. It'd be pretty legible if she could understand it, and it's definitely not chicken scratch handwriting either.

Three guesses and the first two don't count. ]

[When Terry hadn't shown up for his shift at the cafe for several days straight, Killua had known that something went horribly wrong in the dungeon. It's only now that he's finally gotten a lead on the guy's location--after asking politely at the hospital to contact him at the bakery if they saw someone who matched Terry's description. Read: He'd played up his "kid" act and gotten sympathy from the nurses there.

So here he is, following their directions until he finds the right room. He pushes it open, eyes scanning the room until they finally land on Terry. They narrow, but he doesn't even bite out a reprimand, simply closing the door behind him quietly, as he searches for what to say.]

...I couldn't find you the first few days.

[overstrain]

[ Terry's bed is at the corner of the room. Even though are other multiple beds here, none of them are being used by anyone other than a cat family of five. They seem to be staying far away from Terry though, even looking guarded against him.

Terry is hooked up to an IV with clear liquid in the packet. Other than that, there doesn't seem to be any visible signs of him being a patient other than the hospital clothes that he's wearing. He's usually seen with bandages or a gauze stuck on him somewhere before, but now he doesn't seem to have anything on him. The doctors decided that Terry doesn't need a heart rate monitor machine either, because why would you need one for a person that had their heart literally crushed to bits? Despite that, they worked on him and think he'll still be alive. Doctors just be like that sometimes in Hirajiro.

Terry is sitting up on the bed when Killua arrives, with his back resting against the pillow that's leaning on the headboard. The room is empty other than Terry, Killua, and the five cats. ]

... Yeah. Sorry. I was here for a while.

[ Terry gestures over to the chair beside the bed. ]

[ knock knock knock on Terry's bedroom door, it's bright and early and who knows how long waiting times are when you don't have an appointment, so they're going first thing in the morning ]

Terrence? Are you awake?

[overstrain]

[ Terry has been awake, but he's been lounging around on the floating bed off in the corner of his room. Not to mention that there's the usual cat family on the bed too, so that's fine. It's the fact that there are five MORE cats on the bed, but they seem to be getting along just fine.

That is definitely a king sized floating bed that has all the sheets, blanket, and pillows. Terry is hugging one of the pillows and burying his face with another.

The cats don't seem to mind how pathetic Terry is being right now, but they do notice Kido coming in. They perk up, staring at Kido,
and Umi meows at Kido. ]

[He has to find Terry in person, since he hasn't yet gotten a phone, but once he does-]

Is now a good time? For checking the music store.

[ Terry was doing some general cleaning outside of his house when Sasuke makes his way over and when he asks, he asks Sasuke to hold on for a second before going back to the house to ditch the broom and wash his hands and comes back out quickly. ]

All ready. Let's go!

9/15, action

[ Is this afterlife, finally? Surely after a second, and then third chance, he won't have any more? It feels like he's been walking through the darkness for months, no, years, and his limbs are heavy like they're made of lead. Slowly, he falls to his knees and crawls forward, just like how he did back in the dungeon. He doesn't know where he's going, but he only knows that he has to keep going, even if every fibre of his being wants to reject the very possibility that he's alive, and that he's here right now. Wherever he is, it doesn't matter, he has to go, someone is waiting for him, someoneー

Mondo opens his eyes for the first time in the noon of 14th. His eyes dilate, his breathing ragged like he's being choked. His fingers move desperately but his arms don't, like they're too heavy for him to lift. From there on, he spends the rest of the day vomiting out dark substances, having fits, slipping in and out of consciousness. The sounds he's letting out was resembles one of a beast - grunting, growling, groaning. It continues all the way until the clock strikes 2 in the morning.

He then falls back into a deep sleep, and is only awake much later after Rei is fast asleep on the 15th. When he opens his eyes again, his condition has stabilised for the most part, but he is still very much delirious. He's seeing and hearing things that he's not supposed to-- Monokuma's laughter, the sounds of wheels against metal, the revving engine, the crackling of burning sounds,

voices so distant echoing in his mind,

"Oowada-kun, what's wrong?"

"Mondo!!"

"We're doing something important, Mondo, so I'm glad to have you at my side."

"You're just like a prince, Mo-chan. You're big and strong and kind."

"I want you alive with everyone else!!"

"THEN LIVE FOR ME!!"

Mondo jolts, sitting up so fast he feels like his surroundings spin around him, eventually falling to his side with his right elbow supporting him. He can hear three beeping noises, all in different intervals, but that's about what he can brain this moment. ]

[ Terry had been sitting by Mondo's bed after seeing Rei after confirming that Kido still has a ridiculously high fever. He's been worried about them both, and he did visit yesterday too, but that was before Mondo had woken up. Now that he's here again, many thoughts run through his head--modt of them what-if situations that will never happen because fate decided to lock them into a situation that gave them death with certainty.

He breaks out of those thoughts when Mondo suddenly sits up and then falls back on the bed. Terry is startled, relieved, and concerned--his emotions doing quick changes in that order all less than a second. He keeps his gaze on Mondo for several seconds before he starts tearing up again. He's alive. He's moving, breathing, and showing all signs of life right here, right before him, even if it's painful. He wants to give him a hug, but he's scared that he might hurt him in the process, so he holds himself back. ]

Mondo...

[ Even when smiling, a tear falls down his face. ]

You're alive... I'm so glad.

[ When the brightest sunshines of Hirajiro lose their glow, it's very telling: something clearly has gone down. It's been two days since Leon found RO's body, and it's almost like light has gone from his eyes. Whenever he encounters anyone, he'll muster up the normal Leon smile, but someone close would notice that there's a difference in his mannerism. ]

Ah. Rii-tan. Been a while, huh?

[ Then again, his last few encounters with Terry hasn't been the most cheerful. Still, he will muster up a full faced smile, albeit not initiating the slightly excessive physical contact. ]

Have you been good?

[overstrain]

[ It's painfully obvious to Terry that Leon is not at his greatest, but he won't try to dig it back up, because it would probably be painful. They're both sadsacks here and Terry pauses from buying a takoyaki set from a stall in the Market Street and looks off to the side before looking back at Leon. ]

Yeah, I've been... okay for the most part.

[ If anything, his eyes look tired the most. ]

What about you?

[He notices when he can't find Terry in any of his usual spots.

Whatever he felt like talking to Terry about takes a back seat in his concern at the unusual behavior, instructing Kurou to go take a look around to help him cover ground even faster. Meanwhile, Sasuke himself goes to check the house to see if anyone's there...]

[overstrain]

[ The house is pretty quiet, but it looks like it hasn't had a day when it hasn't been maintained. There are clear signs of someone living here, though it's really been 1-2 days. Rimi, the otamatone is performing perimeter guard by walking around the house repeatedly while soaking up the sunlight so that it charges itself. It spots Sasuke and gives off a sound of short successive three beeps.

That's what makes Terry open the front door. ]

Mm... Sasuke?

[ His eyes look tired. ]

9/17, action

[ rei hasn't been able to sleep properly since her awakening. even with the painkillers, everything aches and is sore and they can't give her any more medicine to help, so she can't stay asleep for too long without her side or back hurting. on top of the physical pain, there are the emotional and mental stressors that she's suffering from, feeling so helpless and useless, reminiscent of a past life. everything keeps her awake and pulled away from the empty comfort of sleep, so she spends most of her time awake, sitting in bed, and staring out the window. she does the same today, up early in the morning and watching the people walking in the hospital courtyard and seeing them enjoying the outdoors. old feelings of bitterness swell up in her chest and when a crow flies through the open window, dropping a familiar rabbit doll on her lap before flying away, she thinks, "i hate this". ]

[ she can't bare to throw away the doll, tossing it out the very window that it came through, even when she stares at the name stitched onto the foot. instead, she just holds it to herself, wrapping one arm around it and goes back to staring outside. she's so jealous... ]

[ Terry had been sleeping in the hospital since the previous day and he wakes up on the chair beside Kido's bed. He doesn't particularly feel well-rested, but he sees that Kido is still asleep and goes over to where Rei is, since she seems to be awake. He goes to take a seat on the edge of her bed. ]

Hi, Rei. How are you feeling this morning?

[ Knock knock knock on Terry's front door!! Is anybody home? If yes, great! It no, also great, because he gets a free doorknob out of this if nobody answers in the next three seconds.

It's 10 PM. ]

[ ghhhhhh

Terry can tell who it is by the smell alone and he really doesn't want to open the door, but it seems Kano is prone to doing things that Terry doesn't like, so he might as well get it over with, so he opens the door. ]

What do you want...

[Sasuke's actually wandering the Velvet Room rather late at night today. He hasn't gone into the dungeons, he's just... hanging around looking tired and somewhat grouchy.

H-hm. That's odd.]

[ Terry is finally no longer a pom, but decided that he wants a break from Dungeoning today. Since Sasuke hadn't seen him in a while, he only looks slightly older, but that's the only apparent change that there is, since the Shadow incident.

He spots Sasuke in the Velvet Room... wandering? Hm. He waves a little over to him. ]

[ He gets the feeling what this is about... but he doesn't want to say it up front, so Akira will get the following reply: ]

[ It's the end of her final day of working and Kido has blacklisted this cafe and will never come back here again unless something drastic happens like the building is burning down and there's a cat stuck inside. She really hopes the building will just burn down.

Anyways, I'm just going to assume Terry had the same shift too, just like the day before, so they can walk home together. It's nice having a home again. Hopefully the smell of mold is gone. ]

It takes you too long to get ready...

[ Since Terry has to figure out dresses and get the makeup off, while Kido at least grew up wearing dresses and refuses to wear makeup. She's impatient. Let's go home. ]

[ The smell of mold is definitely gone. Also, Toki is crashing at their house when Kido's gone and he's taking residence on the couch. Just... as a note...

Anyway. ]

That was the fastest I could get it done... I don't like spending so much time on that either.

[ He's a sad cat. Jiro's attempt to comfort him got annoying, so Kano slips off into the woods to see if he can find Terry— he's got to be the dog, if the snake is with him, and he's some sort of god(???) Maybe he can do something. It's just a face. If they can get the face out of the bear's stomach, Terry can do something, right??

[ :( I'm gonna cry

Terry the samoyed has just torn the bear to shreds. There's blood all over his white fur and Orien is nothing but exasperated. Terry smells someone behind him and... it's a familiar cat. ]

12/2 - idk, mid-morning? - fox things

[Jiro didn't go back to the house after his encounter with Terry in the lake dungeon. He went back to the castle instead, leaving all of his things to pick up later today; which includes his omamori (and thus, Priam's Dia), his phone, and most of his clothes. Therefore, he's crouching in front of the shrine in just track pants and bare feet, and looking like shit. His nose is broken, dark circles forming around his eyes. There's a lot of scrapes and bruises, possibly finger-shaped ones on his wrists.

He's holding a couple of smoking incense sticks, and there's a plate of half-eaten inarizushi in front of him. He's yelling at the fox, who has just vanished into the bushes, but to Terry he will sound, well, like a fox.]

Come back here! I wanna talk to you!

[overstrain]

[ Terry had to throw out his clothes and take a shower, but he's walking up the stairs to the shrine and he smells... Jiro. Yeah. Then he hears some fox noises? Jiro's probably talking to a fox, is Terry's guess but he doesn't know that he can actually... legit talk to them. He forgot or hasn't figured it out yet. Either way, he stays on the stairs, only barely peeking at the shrine grounds, because he's... honestly not ready to talk to Jiro so soon again. But that fox is there and he doesn't know what to feel. He hates foxes. He notes the incense and inarizushi since he can smell those too. ]

[ Kido's come home from playing Pied Piper leading almost all the cats over to the Velvet Room, so it's strangely quiet when she gets home that afternoon. It's quiet and empty, and the air even feels a bit lighter without all the car fur floating around.

It's kind of lonely without her 60+ cats, though ): So she goes to find wherever Terry's around in the house. ]

How are you feeling now?

[ Ami is in the crane room after bidding farewell to all the babies except her four original kittens. The others have grown up so fast...

Terry baked bacon and egg toast cups for breakfast, so now he's just chilling in his room, on the bed as usual and reading the same book he was reading the day before in the Clubhouse, and looking like he's almost going to doze off. He has the book open on these two pages. Good thing it's in English. When Kido asks, Terry looks up from his book. ]

A lot better!

[ Even his voice improved a lot from his sick one. The house doesn't smell like cats anymore. He gives Kido a weak smile as if to apologize. He no longer has the face mask at least. ]

[Terry feels kind of like the person you can’t buy gifts for because they have everything, also people give Akira weird looks whenever he leaves his house to buy stuff anyway, so Akira makes him something instead.]

[On December 25th, there’s a present addressed to Terry sitting by his door. It’s wrapped neatly, but with little decoration. Inside is two jars — a pepper jelly with a note that says “eat with cheese”, and winter apple jelly, with apples and cinnamon.]

[ The morning after the Christmas party, something still weighs on Rei's mind so she slips out of bed and knocks on Terry and Kido's bedroom door. It's a little early, but if Terry's still asleep, she'll just come back another time. ]

... T-chan? Are you awake?

[overstrain]

[ It really is early in the morning, but despite last night's partying, he gets up out of bed easily and walks over to the door, opening it. He has a massive bedhead and he's wearing a long sleeved shirt and long pants. Not casual wear, but not exactly pajamas either. ]

What's up, Rei? Is something wrong?

[ A plastic bag falls from the sky and lands on Terry's head, and then a crow lands on his head, and then the crow hops off to become Ala who spreads her arms wide and goes ]

Merry Christmas~!!

[ two days late, but it's the thought that counts. Anyways, she thinks Terry could have better use for these things, so she's giving them to him: several dozen tea bags (hibiscus, cinnamon and ginger, green, lemon and ginger, Earl Grey), a couple of wrapped butter mints, a couple yards of copper wire, a dozen Crayola crayons in assorted colors, several unused balloons, a spark plug, a bottle of soy sauce, some hot chocolate powder packets, a bunch of crumpled but clean napkins, a single plastic spoon, several ketchup packets, a handful of plastic straws, a single rubber glove, two handfuls of sugar packets (the pink ones), a stress ball in the shape of a star, several booster packs of Magic cards, a feather breathing charm, an acorn, a glass jar filled with a mix of brand new nails and rusty bent ones, and a money clip holding ћ100,000 in it. ]

I have your blood from before too... Do you want that back?

[ She holds out a bloody napkin. ]

[ Terry looks at the floor where everything is and he feels tired already. He looks up at Ala when she holds out the bloody napkin. Things click together.. ]

... They gave you Kano's pocket?

[ What the fuck. ]

[Toki isn't sure where Orien spends most of his time, or where he'll be at any given moment. He could just stand there by the kotatsu and scream for the snake, but he doesn't. It's not even his first instinct any longer. Toki checks the hospital room first, knocking softly on the door.]

Orien? Are you in there?

[overstrain]

[ When Toki knocks, there isn't an answer. Instead, it takes a few more seconds for there to be a reply, but at Toki's side instead of in the medical room. Orien just came out of the crane room, closing the door behind him. Orien sees that Toki is in front of the medical room door and wonders... ]

Were you looking for me, Toki?

[He walks up to Terry looking restless.]

Can't recall a thing I did. It feels like I got hit by a truck. You had more shots than me. What the hell.

[ Terry was just doing yardwork in front of his house when he sees Nero and the first thing he says is this.

You know what? Fair. Terry laughs a little. ]

You really don't remember? It was a wild night with exploding swords and stuff.

[Machinery isn't very durable and he's so close to breaking his own arm again. Nero detaches it from his limbs before it becomes a pain and gives it to Terry.]

Are you good with technology and weapons? I need a hand.

[ When Terry got the door to the house, he wasn't expecting... this. Definitely not Nero coming in and detaching his own arm before he realizes that it's more like a robotic limb. ]
