[ Rei doesn't deserve any more Shadows or internal strife so she's going down the communication route from now on. Besides, Terry did a good job talking to Niko. If he messed up, maybe she wouldn't have come to talk with him. ]

But I'm sorry for waking you up so early. You should go back to bed.

[ Rei is someone that Terry feels like he can easily relate to despite being nothing like her, so that really helped with the Shadow talk. Terry gives one more squeezehug before letting go. ]

It's okay. I'm used to waking up early, so I should probably start making breakfast. What do you want to eat? Or maybe... a surprise?

[ Because whatever Terry makes, Rei will love it, but then she thinks of something. ]

Oh, is it okay if I watch you make it? Tokidoki really liked it when I made him that omurice in bed so I want to learn how to make more breakfast meals.

It's fine if you watch, but I was gonna make a ham and cheese quiche.

[ He's wondering if that would be too high level for her... ]

[ She has no idea if the difficulty level is too high for her. Who knows. She'll try her best and if she burns herself, that's why she has Ananke :) ]

I'll make sure to stay out of the way so you can cook properly and just watch.

[ Hm, hm, hmmmmmm. ]

Actually, why don't you help me? You can practice using a kitchen knife too.

First, you align the chives together on the cutting board. The knife you're going to use is pretty small, but still sharp, so be careful, okay? The best way to cut them is by starting on the end and slowly work your way in.

[ Then he'll demonstrate how Rei should use her hands so that she doesn't cut a finger off--curling her fingers inwards while her knuckles rest against the blade. ]

[ Despite how long Rei is taking, Terry is proud of her. He remembers when he and Kido were talking about letting Rei cook and Terry was fully supportive, even if it meant getting a portable stove so that she could practice outside. Once she finishes, Terry looks over the chives. Some pieces could be cut smaller, so he'll note that. ]

You did a good job! Could you slice these two parts a little smaller? Just cut them in half.

[ There was also that time when Kido made Terry agree that he can't let Rei into the kitchen or else he's not allowed to move in with them. Times sure have changed. ]

[ She does as instructed, taking a few long seconds because she wants to chop them perfectly, but once she finishes, she's filled with energy. She's going to help cook! She's going to learn how to work around in a kitchen! And maybe not burn something to the ground! ]

What's next?! What else can I help with?!

Terry is so happy he can finally seriously teach her how to cook. Even if it's just helping out in the kitchen, it's a good step to take. ]

I'm glad that you're excited, Rei. But the others are still sleeping, so let's be excited, but a little quieter, okay? Can you get the baking tray out from under the oven? It should be like a circle shape.

[ She says this in a hushed tone. She was very excited to help and start to learn. She was only slightly interested in cooking at the very beginning because then she could eat a bunch of dishes without having to go out, but since Terry and Kido spoil her and cook those dishes anyway, she never thought about learning. Then Toki came along and now she's determined to cook 3929120 meals to make him happy. ]

Umm, what's the difference between cooking and baking?

[ She'll grab the baking tray but she just realized that she has no idea what the difference is. Is there a cooking tray as well??? ]

[ Hm. Terry tries to think of how to word that as he takes the baking tray from Rei. ]

Cooking is like... a general term when you prepare food with heat. Baking is a type of cooking that uses the oven.

Ohhh, so we're baking a quiche and not cooking it?

[ Seems simple enough to understand. ]

Kinda! Hm...

[ While Terry gets ready, he tries to think of a way to describe it to Rei. ]

It's a little like how "fruits" are a category, and an "apple" is from that category. So the "cooking" would be "fruits" and "baking" would be the "apple".

[ Terry truly knows his little sister. Using food examples are the best. ]

Oh, I see! Then what's orange, grapes, or pears?

[ ... food examples are also the worst because it gets her distracted. ]

Roasting, frying, and boiling.

[ He smiles and decides to roll with it so that Rei can learn that there are different kinds of cooking too. He puts the things into the oven and sets the heat. ]

Alright, let's go wait on the couch.

Mmhm!

[ And she bounces off to the couch. Maybe she can take a quick nap while breakfast is baking. She did wake up early, after all. ]

How long do we have to wait?

Hm... Probably forty minutes? I set a timer and I can wake up for it. I'm a light sleeper.

[ They're on the couch that makes everyone useless. Terry isn't one to take naps, but he sure wants a nap now. He yawns while covering his mouth. ]

I'm gonna take a quick nap...

[ Yawns are very contagious because Rei mimics Terry. She then rubs one of her eyes. ]

Me too... let's nap and then eat breakfast.

[ She'll begin to lie down on the couch that makes everyone useless. She isn't a light sleeper so Terry will have to shake her awake once breakfast is ready. ]

[ Terry cuddles with Rei because cuddles are the best. It's cuddle season!!

Sleep well, Rei... Terry will absolutely wake her up when it's time for breakfast. ]
